What do you do now?

I have been asked, “so what do you do with your time now that you’re not marching?” Well, I really haven’t found my “swagger” yet when it comes to relaxing, but here’s a quick run down on my weekend activities:

Friday night –

bed WAY early after reading a book

Saturday –

farmers market (it was freezing)

finished the book (first book read in about 2 years that wasn’t a children’s book)

fabric warehouse (needed a new project)

book warehouse (really good sales)

bought a used Burley Bike trailer

went to REI

Dinner

Watched a Movie – Stranger than Fiction – pretty cute

Sunday –

Slept in late (little bit of a cold – thanks Muiread)

Yummy breakfast (thanks Brandon)

Scrap booked!!

Yummy Dinner (thanks again Brandon)

Watched a Movie – Talk to Me – you should all watch it

Really when you write it all out, it seems like a lot. Of course there was playing with Muiread all mixed in there too, but that should be a given. Boring I know, but you asked.

So - you think you need a baby update do ya? Well, as you can see by the picture, it's spring in Minnesota (finally) and she is as cute as always. (and I planted flowers, who knew).

Muiread spends most of her days in a state of perpetual motion. There is no down time and she seems to always need to be doing something. (I’m note sure where she gets this from). She hasn’t figured out running YET, but I’m sure it’s just mere moments away. Due to the constant motion, and hummingbird metabolism, she is still a peanut weighing in at 19lbs, 2 oz.

Her vocabulary is expanding with her favorite words being: Dada, diaper, kitty cat, dog, thank you, uh oh, this, shoes, fish. (of course sometimes they all sound like dada with different inflections and she’s still on a mama strike). If she should ever call you dada, don’t be offended. All adults are dada.

Muiread’s receptive language is what amazes us the most. She takes direction fairly well and we know she pretty much understands everything we say. (clean that language up kids). She also enjoys cleaning up her toys possibly more than making a mess.

So there you have it, an update. Perhaps I’ll try to do a little better at this. However I do have a friend that hasn’t updated his blog since August so I don’t feel so bad.

She Might Actually be My Child

I uploaded new pictures to the Gallery last week but really didn't do a post to alert people of that. I figure only about 6 people still check this thing anyway. (just kidding). When looking over the photos today, I decided she may actually finally look a little like me and no as much like Brandon. So here's a ROUGH side-by-side (I'm at work so my programs are limited. The picture of Muiread is from last week so about 17-months old and the one of me is from my 2nd Birthday.

14-months

So Muiread is 14-months old today. I will try to get some pictures up this evening, but may be a little slow as we need to pack for our trip to Columbia, MO this weekend.

So this is what people always ask me:

1. Is she walking yet? No. She cruises on furniture, she pulls up to standing against stuff, and she's good at going up the stairs and working on down....but no freeform walking. Crawling is faster. We're working on it though and I'm sure one day she'll just walk right past us.

2. Words? Our repertoire includes - Mama, Dada (whispered), Kitty Cat (also whispered), This (which sounds like Dis and occurs when pointing at everything), maybe some other things, but those are the most used

3. Size? Still a peanut. I think she ways just over 18 pounds at this point. I weighed her fully clothed about two weeks ago and she was about 18 pounds, 2 ounces. She can still where dome 9 months, but 12 months are the best right now (although pants are long but she should just get used to that)

So that's a little update. Again, I'll try to get some pictures up tonight, but make no promises.

All your goal post are belong to us

Sometimes we do things that are not "baby centered." It's not very often anymore, but every now and again one of us does get out without a baby. Last weekend was one such event with the Hawks playing the Gophers in the Dome for the last time. This was like a home game for us on many levels - no long drive and more hawk fans than gophers. (especially by 3rd quarter).

So the game was good, if not silly by the end, but we do have some photos. If you're on Facebook, these are the same photos I posted there.

We're bad parents

So when it was all said and done, we had 10 pictures worth sharing this month. We're bad parents. Granted, she did get her first year photos taken last week and when we can share those we will, but really...10 pictures in 30 days....that's sad. Wendy and Jeff would be so angry with us. So if you feel like looking, take a peek in the gallery. Just remember there is still a password. (same as it's been)

Since we have been so negligent, here is a video:

And Let's Go Hawks

Muiread attended her first Iowa game this weekend, and what a game it was. It's always nice to beat Wisconsin.

The guy in the background was very "excited" the entire game, but as you can tell it didn't really bother Muiread too much. She was awake for 2nd quarter and half time. We fed her during 2nd qtr and gave her a bottle early in the 3rd and then she was out the rest of the game.

The most exciting part was actually seeing her clap during the game. That is a skill that she really didn't have at all until the game....well we hadn't seen her clap.

Thank you Doogie and Colleen for the ticket!!
