My Funny Valentine

So Happy Valentine's Day to all of our friends. Hope you have a great day in whatever you choose to do. We are going to the G. Love show tonight at First Ave. which I am very excited about.

A special shout-out goes to my parents today who are celebrating their 32nd Wedding Anniversary. That's pretty amazing in today's society and I'm so glad that they have made it through the good and bad times. Way to go stayin' in love!

Old School Master

Weekend Update – This weekend marked one of the last times for a while that I didn’t have anything planned for Saturday or Sunday. The kicker to this is the fact that Brandon didn’t have to work either. This is a true sign of the apocalypse approaching, so I’m sorry in advance.

Friday night I did have a parade in St. Peter. I believe it was 2 degrees when we started and I also believe that’s how many notes I played since my valves were frozen. The invention failed me and after a long conversation with Rocket, there are some new theories on why that happened. There isn’t much right now I can think to do to fix it, but I tried.

Saturday Brandon and I spent the day playing old school video games. We found out what a master he is at this and just how much I suck at Ms Pac-Man. (I did kick his butt in the crazy version of Dig Dug though) The toughest part on the Pac-Man is using your left thumb for the joy stick. I miss the old Atari joy stick where you used your whole hand (right or left). Saturday evening we went to the cheap theater to see Borat and even though it is a little over hyped, I still enjoyed it.

Sunday Brandon went to watch Ireland vs France in rugby at The Local. It’s the Six Nations Tournament and it was the first game of Rugby in Croke Park which is a huge deal. An even bigger deal is in two weeks when they play the English team. The last time Ireland played England in Croke, a bunch of people got killed. (aka Bloody Sunday).

Other than that, there isn’t much worthwhile to report on. (unless you want to hear about me cleaning the office – woohoo) It was a fairly lazy weekend, but just nice to be home.

Ironic

So I’ve had some time to calm down about this topic, but I still feel justified in posting something about it.

I live in Minnesota, I know it gets cold here, even when it’s amazingly cold I can still look at it as, “We knew this going into this living situation, it was a choice.” However I can still be in shock when I see that Saturday’s high is projected to be -4, the HIGH -4. It just amazes me to no end.

What amazes me even more is the fact that a company that was founded and is based in Minnesota apparently does not know THEY are in Minnesota. Let me explain:

I walk about 4 city blocks from the parking garage to work each day. It can be very chilly at 6:45am and I was in need for a new ear warmer. (one that won’t mess up my hair). So silly me, I went to Target to check out their cold weather head gear. To my surprise, you cannot buy a hat, scarf, gloves, mittens, ear muffs, etc. at Target any longer. They were put on clearance the beginning of January and are all gone. This seems ridiculous to me since February is notoriously colder in this state than December. Now if I want a bikini, I’m good to go. So I figure in July I guess I should buy some gloves.

I did find a new ear warmer/ear muffs, but had to get them at a sporting goods store.
